Turn Amazon Spending Into Points

If you shop often on Amazon Japan, the right card may help you earn more value from purchases you already make.

Choose an Option:

Why Consider Amazon Mastercard?

  • May earn Amazon Points on eligible Amazon.co.jp purchases
  • Can offer higher Amazon.co.jp rewards for Prime members
  • May earn points on eligible convenience store and everyday spending
  • Helps compare Amazon Mastercard with Rakuten Card, PayPay Card, d Card, AEON Card, JCB CARD W and Mitsui Sumitomo Card

What To Know Before You Apply

Prime Status Can Change The Value

The card design and benefits can depend on whether you are an Amazon Prime member at the time of application. Sumitomo Mitsui Card states that Prime registration status is automatically checked during application and the card design is issued according to that status.

This matters because Prime members may receive a higher Amazon.co.jp point rate than non-Prime members. If you do not use Prime often, compare whether the card still fits your spending routine.

Rewards Are Amazon Points, Not Cash

Amazon Mastercard rewards are issued as Amazon Points, which can be useful if you regularly buy from Amazon.co.jp. Sumitomo Mitsui Card’s FAQ shows current point rates for cards joined from November 1, 2021 onward, including 2.0% for Amazon Prime Mastercard, 1.5% for Amazon Mastercard, 1.0% outside Amazon.co.jp, and 1.5% at eligible 7-Eleven, FamilyMart and Lawson purchases.

Some purchases, charges and payment types may be excluded from points. Review exclusions before relying on a headline reward rate.

Eligibility And Credit Review Still Matter

The official card page lists the main card application target as people aged 18 or older, excluding high school students. Approval, credit limit and account terms are still subject to review.

Prepare accurate personal, income, employment and address details before applying. A rewards card should only be used when the repayment plan is already clear.

How Does It Work?

You Review The Card Details

Start by checking the official Amazon Mastercard page for current annual fee, Prime rewards, non-Prime rewards, convenience store rewards and conditions. The card page lists lifetime no annual fee, including ETC annual fee, subject to official terms.

You Submit Your Application

Apply online with accurate personal and financial information. The issuer reviews your application before deciding approval, card issuance and credit limit.

You Use And Track Points

If approved, use the card for eligible purchases and monitor Amazon Points through the connected account tools. Points are most useful when they match your real shopping habits and do not encourage unnecessary spending.

Use Amazon Mastercard With Clear Expectations

Amazon Mastercard may help frequent Amazon Japan shoppers earn more value from planned purchases, but approval and rewards are not guaranteed. Confirm current terms, point rules, fees and repayment conditions through official channels before applying.
